According to information from the Port Authority of Funchal, this entity coordinated today the rescue of a Dutch tourist, who was traveling along the path of Ponta de São Lourenço. At the age of 53, he suffered a fall which forced his rescue from Sanas on suspicion of having broken an arm. The maritime rescue association sent a boat to the Sardine dock to pick up the stricken tourist, taking her to Quinta do Lorde, where an ambulance was waiting for her. Sanas transported a team of Municipal Firefighters from Machico to the Sardinha dock from Quinta do Lorde to help with the rescue.

It should be remembered that there have been numerous small-scale accidents in this path of the Ponta de São Lourenço, which is not difficult at all, and which have forced the evacuation of foreign citizens. It is often observable that visitors venture down the sidewalk without adequate footwear. Funchal News has seen female tourists, in dresses and flip-flops, doing this walk.
