Island Blackout

Much of the Island has just recovered from a huge power failure. I’m sure it has covered most of the island looking at Social Media, Did anyone NOT have a Power Cut???

At the moment they do not know what caused the failure which lasted about 15 minutes.

  5. I would have been really upset if we had had the power cut in Funchal . I was watching Britain’s got talent and it was emotional !!!

  6. We were affected but had power t back at 9.15 I think. The lower part of our valley where the hotel Vila Mia and the bar o precipício are did not suffer any power failures.

  8. No power loss in Funchal, at Baltazar Theatre then CR7 for drinks. Didn’t see anything until back in Canico, surpise elevator is out!!!!

  16. I live here Maurice and I like crap British tv on a Saturday night ! Coronation Street too !! Not going to apologise for that either . Plenty of time to do other things the rest of the week !!

  17. Havn’t watched British TV for more than 20 years. In fact don’t watch TV much at all these days. I prefer to read. Especially Toby’s blog. ?

  19. It makes you feel old Maurice when you remember the start of Coronation Street . Didn’t know about the re runs though .

  21. I still plan to watch Call the Midwife, The Durrells, Yorkshire Vet and Good Karma Hospital when I move there – I hope I will be able to get them on TV there, especially the Call The Midwife Christmas special!!

  22. These programmes are not available on the cable TV here . Call the midwife and Yorkshire Vet are on BBC entertainment on cable but are around a series behind . However Emily , where there’s a will there’s a way . When you get here I will let you know how .

  24. We have Apple TV, with the right VPN you can get iPlayer, itv, tv player and Netflix. It’s great, I couldn’t survive here in Madeira without it. Not that we are telly addicts but you can’t beat BBC. We love Call the Midwife too. Our VPN only costs about £30 odd pounds for 2 years. However please note we would be more than happy to pay the full tv licence here if they allowed us to watch here. Thank goodness for modern technology. It keeps me informed and I can see my grandson whenever I want and don’t feel I’m missing out on his growing up.
