Rain and strong winds with thunder and lighting this evening has been causing a few problems round the island.
The island is in yellow alert for wind and rain with orange alert in place on the mountains with gusts up to 120kmh .
The airport has also seen problems with flights being diverted. An Air Berlin flight was diverted to Tenerife and then returned to Madeira to only be diverted to Porto Santo as the weather worsened.
Also a short power cut in Caniço for about 10 minutes, not sure if other areas of the island were affected.Sao Vicente this afternoon and Ribeira da Janela
