Two Madeiran restaurants have just won Michelin Stars this evening, at a ceremony held in Girona, Spain
The already award-winning restaurant Il Gallo d’Oro, on The Cliff Bay, led by chef Benoît Sinthon, is now sporting two Michelin stars.
The new edition of the famous ‘red guide’ is the restaurant William, hotel Belmond Reid’s Palace, headed by Luis Pestana, in Funchal, winning the first Michelin star and is distinguished by “elegance.”
Overall, Portugal won two new classifications of two stars in the 2017 edition of the Michelin Guide, which also assigns seven new distinctions from one star to Portuguese restaurants.
A total of 21 Portuguese restaurants listed in the guide next year: five with two stars and sixteen with a star representing seven new entries for the 2016 edition (three restaurants with two stars and 11 one star).
