A foreign tourist was in serious condition after a fall of approximately 100 meters in a path in Galhano, in Porto Moniz. The incident happened Saturday at 11 o’clock, and the situation was concluded around 5 pm.
The man had a head injury and could not get up alone, and had several wounds on his body.
According to information from the Volunteer Firefighters of São Vicente and Porto Moniz, the fall happened in an itinerary not recommended. This is a road opened by the Electricity Company of Madeira but is sometimes used as a shortcut by tourists to get to Levada dos Lamaceiros more quickly than Paul da Serra.
The area where this man fell this Saturday is very steep and has several abysses. In this case, the group of tourists came in the company of a mountain guide.
EMIR was on site with an off-road vehicle, as well as 10 members of the Volunteer Firefighters of São Vicente and Porto Moniz and four forest police.
The man was transported to the hospital.
