The Sanas-Madeira was called yesterday afternoon to rescue four girls who, due to the strong currents could not get back to shore in Garajau.

The young women signalled a rescue swimmer to help and tried to get them back to shore, but she could not, as the current was very strong. At that moment another swimmer requested the boat of the Sanas, who were in Funchal, to make a trip round the beach, rescuing the girls and the rescue swimmer who during this time kept the girls together and calm.

Apparently, due to the rough seas the young women were already more than 500 meters away from the coast.
