Américo Sousa, 51, the helicopter pilot who died today of fighting a fire in Castro Daire, lived for a year in Madeira, where he trained 20 para-glider pilots.

The ill-fated pilot, born in Porto, represented the Social and Sports Center of Câmara de Lobos, in the Portuguese team that participated in the World Championship in Vale de Bravo (Mexico) in 2009.

The formation of paragliding took place in 2005/2006 promoted by the Free Flying Association of Madeira.
