We were woken this morning at 12.30 am (Royal Savoy) as we were on the ground floor and they said to move to another room on a higher level due to the possibility of the sea entering our room, we moved to the 5th floor and had a grandstand view of the force of the sea, waves were breaking and crashing into the swimming pools, with the moon above, it was high tide, the sea spray was higher than the palm trees, incredible sight, clearing work started first thing by the staff and now at 4pm everything back in place, enjoying the sunshine, pools need to be filtered.
This video shows how the wind is so strong it makes the water rise up the mountain.
The Lobo Marinho Ferry made its first trip to Porto Santo this evening. Leaving Funchal at 7pm, the delayed trip was the first this week due to the bad weather we have been experiencing.
Speaking to a friend who lives on the island, he will be glad to see its return, as the supermarket Pingo Doce, was very low on all items.
