The Municipality of Funchal intends to plant 288 thousand trees and shrubs in the Ecological Park of Funchal until 2020. Work goes to the field during this year, this being an investment of 1,398,055 euros.

According to the city councillor with the Environment Department, Idalina Perestrelo, in question is an area of ​​330 hectares, where indigenous plants will be introduced.

This project is supported by the European Union through the Madeira Rural Development Program (PRODERAM) and is part of the Forestry Management Plan of the Funchal Ecological Park, presented by the building in November 2017, in the context of the August fire 2016.
