The Regional Secretariat for Agriculture and Fisheries, through the Institute of Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft of Madeira (IVBAM) and the companies of the sector, is present in the ‘Big Fortified Tasting’ (BFT), which will be held on 9th May in London, at “Church House”.
This important event, which concentrates fortified wines from around the world, had its first edition in 2008 and is already a reference in the world of wines, receiving only professional visitors, mostly from the Horeca Channel, importers, journalists, sommeliers, among others
The Madeira Wine sector continues to be strongly represented at this event, with six producing and exporting companies, namely Justino’s – Madeira Wines, Henriques & Henriques, Madeira Wine Company, HM Borges, Barbeito and Pereira d’Oliveira Wines as well as Institute of Wine, Embroidery and Handicraft of Madeira.
As a way to reinforce the presence of Madeira Wine in this event and taking into account the importance of the English market, the IVBAM organizes a commented test of Madeira Wine. The event, whose theme will be “Woodcuts” will be directed by the renowned Master of Wine, Sarah Abbott and the entries are already exhausted.
It should be noted that last year the English market was the second most important market for Madeira Wine in Europe, representing in terms of revenue around € 2,301,983.35.
The total cost of this action is co-financed by 85% of the Community funds provided by the Madeira Program 14-20, the remaining amount being borne by the regional budget.
