On 10 June, the President of the Republic will honor the Madeiran entrepreneur Muriel Dilly Henriques de Freitas Santos Ribeiro with the rank of commander of the Order of Business Merit – Commercial Merit class.
At the age of 96, she had an intense business life, owns Quinta da Penha de França hotels, Rua Imperatriz Dona Amélia and Joe’s Bar, among other businesses. And this intensity, in life and in the tourism sector, has always imposed a very expressive presence. Today, at the age of 96, she directs business directly and continues to maintain her business to the full.
She was born on February 25, 1922, an only daughter, a Madeiran father and an Irish mother. She has two children, one with 74 years and the other with 71, has four grandchildren and four great grandchildren. She was married for 68 years with the neurosurgeon António Ribeiro.
Muriel Ribeiro was decorated in the last year of the governance of Alberto João Jardim, on July 1, with the Medal of Merit. Before, she had already been distinguished with the Golden Star, she was businesswoman of the year
