The measure is part of the package of initiatives that the Government will present today to reduce the impact of pollution caused by plastics. According to the Lisbon Daily News, national supermarkets will have used plastic collection units, which will convert the weight delivered by the consumer into discount vouchers.
The measures are the result of the work done by the Waste Working Group, which marked the year 2021 for the implementation of a broader incentive system. According to the Secretary of State for the Environment, Carlos Martins, the installation of collection units at large plastic sales points, such as supermarkets, will be one of the main measures, and the weight that the consumer will deliver will be converted in shopping vouchers.
