The president of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque, announced today that he will seek compensation from TAP, through a judicial process, seizing the moment to criticise the way the airline is treating the Madeirans.

Recalling that since the beginning of the year many TAP flights were cancelled, Albuquerque accuses the situation of being a “third world treatment”.

He accuses TAP of “incompetence” by cancelling flights to Madeira, in decisions that often involve patients, athletes and children. In addition to this, TAP persists “without solving accommodation problems”

And the situation arises “when Madeira is, for the fifth time, elected the best in Europe, thus contributing to the end of the tourism sector.” TAP does not want to know the consequences, “said the president, stressing that the alert was left to the Republic that, however, “prefers to whistle to the side”. “We can not accept last-minute cancellations and leave people without decent support,” he said.
