The fire that started last afternoon at the Cova da Velha site in Ribeira Brava is still active.
This Tuesday night, the flames exploded on the site of Pedregal, in the Campanário, and continued to spread. Extra Firemen were put on to fight the blaze last night, and the helicopter had been fighting the flames all afternoon.
It is recalled that the high density of trees on the site complicated the operation of the helicopter of the Regional Civil Protection Service.
In the firefight last night, there were 10 firefighters, namely seven members of the Volunteer Firefighters of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol and three members of the Volunteer Firefighters of Câmara de Lobos, with the help of four vehicles.
