The American Gary Carter has today achieved a world record of fishing by catching a blue marlin, 366 kilos, 15 miles from Fajã dos Padres (Quinta Grande).
The catch was made with a 20-pound line and is expected to hit a world record that lasted more than 20 years.
Gary Carter has been coming to Madeira for some time and managed to capture this precisely on the last day of his stay in the Region.
The North American used the vessel ‘Silva Rod-0’, specially designed for deep-sea sport fishing. The ‘fight’ with the Blue Marlin lasted for about an hour until the fish was propped up against the boat that followed in the port of Calheta.
