The Boa Viagem Chapel, in the heart of Funchal’s Old Town, reopens to the public this Friday, September 7, as a new cultural center, after completing its requalification by the Municipality of Funchal.
It is a space that, for many years, has passed unnoticed to the majority of the residents and to those who visit the city, even after the extensive revitalization of that zone, over the last two decades.
Rua de Santa Maria is an almost obligatory point of departure, although it never stops, it is the intention of the Câmara to make the Capela da Boa Viagem an intimate cultural space, to host concerts, artistic exhibitions or cultural events.
For now, the chapel reopens with an annual cultural calendar, heavily oriented to choral and traditional singing. The official reopening takes place this Friday, at 7 pm. The first concert takes place a week later, on September 14, with the performance of the Chamber Choir of Madeira.
