The afternoon of intense searches for the citizen of the Czech Republic, who was dragged by a wave on the quay of São Jorge, proved fruitless yesterday, Paulo Silva Ribeiro, Captain of the Port of Funchal, revealed that the search teams will return soon at daybreak on Saturday.
Already in a statement sent to the newsrooms, the Maritime Authority reveals that in the first hours of this morning continue the searches, using the nautical means present on Saturday and a team of Forensic Divers from the Maritime Police will also join the search.
Throughout the day yesterday, from the time of the alert (13:53), searches were carried out along the coast of São Jorge a vessel of the Captaincy of the Port of Funchal, a vessel of the SANAS and the helicopter Merlin EH 101 of the Portuguese Air Force (FAP) that was stationed on the Island of Porto Santo. The search operations took place without sightings of the tourist body and ended already at sunset.
The Captain of Porto and local commander of the Funchal Maritime Police coordinated this operation, in conjunction with the Regional Civil Protection Service (SRPC) and the MRSC Funchal.
