The Institute for Forests and Nature Conservation (IFCN) has determined the closure of all Recommended Pedestrian Routes on Friday and advises citizens to avoid mountainous areas, as weather forecasts for this weekend approaching Hurricane “Leslie”, point to high winds and heavy rains.
This preventive measure, as a purpose of safeguarding the integrity of the people, extends to the Forest Roads under the management of the Institute, namely those that link Eira do Serrado to Pico do Areeiro and Pico das Pedras to Achada do Teixeira.
The Quintas and Jardins under IFCN, namely Quinta do Imperador, Quinta do Santo da Serra, Jardim Botânico, Jardim da Madalena, Jardim de Santa Luzia and Jardim do Amparo, will be closed during the weekend.
Being this Hunting Day Sunday, the IFCN suggests prudence to the hunters and recommends that they avoid the high zones.
The Institute of Forests and Nature Conservation asks the population to heed the warnings issued by the Regional Civil Protection Service.
