Favorable conditions have been met for the occurrence of snow, already from the dawn of this Thursday, in the highest peaks of the island of Madeira, due to the reduction of the temperature and the prediction of showers.
At the beginning of Wednesday night, the thermometers fell sharply in the mountainous regions, with Pico do Areeiro registering 1.9 degrees Celsius at 20 hours and Bica da Cana at 3.5 Cº at 21:10, according to the data from the Funchal Meteorological Observation Network.
The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) foresees for this Thursday “periods of overcast sky, showers, especially in the north slopes and highlands, and that may be of snow in the highest points of the Island of Madeira” .
There will be a “slight drop in temperature” and a moderate wind (10 to 30 km / h) from Northwest, being weak in Funchal.
On the other hand, the highest maximum temperature was registered in Lido (Funchal), reaching 22.3C at 10h40. However, by 20 hours, that locality in the western zone of Funchal the thermometer marked 14.6 Cº.
