A pregnant woman, aged between 30 and 40 years, was barbarously attacked late Wednesday night in the Old Town of Funchal. A video post circulated on Facebook about the time the woman is saved, became viral in a few minutes.
To what the JM was able to investigate, the victim only sustained no more injuries due to the intervention of a citizen, who either accompanied him or her, and filmed the main suspect in the practice of acts that could constitute a crime of serious bodily harm.
The assaults began inside a bar and then continued, with extreme violence, outside the establishment, where the citizen came to find the victim sitting on the pavement, screaming and bloody, apparently already in a state of shock.
A video shows the individual who is presumed to be the aggressor, and who appears to be about the same age as the victim, opted to leave the scene when he realized the arrival of others. But he went back on his intention and finished with the registration of images, when the citizen asked another person to accompany him to call an ambulance.
So far it has not been possible to ascertain what happened between the citizen and the main suspect of the aggression, and if the PSP, who was called to the scene, even identified someone.
It is known that the victim was rescued and referred to the Emergency Department of Dr. Nélio Mendonça Hospital by members of the Portuguese Red Cross.
