The Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere foresees a wet season in Madeira, with periods of rain, conditioned by the passage of a cold frontal surface.
Special weather information for the end of the year in Madeira was announced a few moments ago by the IPMA. “In the last days of this year, the weather in the archipelago of Madeira will be conditioned by an anticyclone, located east of the Azores, moving northeast and intensifying over the Bay of Biscay,” reveals the IPMA.
“Despite this predominant circulation, between 31 December and 1 January, a cold front is expected to pass through the archipelago of Madeira, although this is a scenario with some uncertainty,” said the statement from the Institute.
Thus, until Sunday, day 30, periods of very cloudy sky are predicted, becoming generally the sky very cloudy from the afternoon of Monday, day 31, with occurrences of rain until the end of the morning of day 1 of January 2019, explains the IPMA.
Wind will predominate from the eastern quadrant until the 30th, blowing from the southern quadrant between December 31 and January 1, 2019. There is also a possibility of weak precipitation occurring on days 28 and 30, especially on the northern slopes of the island of Madeira.
I will be keeping an eye on the weather over the next few days, things can change a lot, so let’s keep our fingers crossed.
