The ship “Mein Schiff 2” arrived yesterday, for an inaugural stopover in Funchal, landing at the southern pier (Pontinha). This is the first voyage of this vessel, with about 2800 passengers. “Mein Schiff 2” is TUI Cruises’ newest and largest ship, and has no fewer than 14 decks and 1,447 cabins. The entry of the Mein Schiff 2, with 315 meters, allowed to exceed the limit thus far operated of ships (up to 300 m) in the port of Funchal. The gigantic vessel arrived earlier, entering the port of Funchal at 11:15 p.m. on February 16, when it was only expected at 00:30 on Sunday
This vessel has a capacity of about 2,900 passengers and 1,000 crew members. The estimated cost was $ 625 million and was built at the Meyer Turku Shipyards in Finland.
In this initial phase, it will operate in Europe. As is customary on Tui Cruises’ ships, the official language on board will be German.
