The 12 passengers on the MSC Opera cruise ship who were detained in Funchal with cocaine concealed in objects they carry in their luggage will await trial in pre-trial detention. The measure of coercion was announced this afternoon, after defendants accused of drug trafficking were heard in a first judicial interrogation by Judge Susana Mano de Ferro, head of the Judgment of Instruction of the Region of Madeira.

A note issued this afternoon by the Comarca of Madeira confirms that the 12 defendants are 6 men and 6 women, aged between 20 and 52 years and reveals that they have nationalities from Colombia, the Dominican Republic, Spain and England.
