Madeira will have a day marked by periods of overcast sky, with more intense showers starting in the afternoon. The forecasts of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) also point to a great possibility of thunderstorm occurring from the afternoon throughout the Region.
Moreover, according to IPMA meteorologists, Angela Lourenço and Patrícia Gomes, the wind will be weak (less than 15 km / h) and there is still a slight drop in the maximum temperature.
They have been promising rain on and off the last few weeks, but yet to see any, and we really do need some now.
Mainland Portugal is in drought with more than half the country affected, the rivers are totally dry and the long term forecasts show little or no rain. Most areas especially in the south are on the highest alert for fires.
