Nine FireFighters of the Voluntary Firefighters of Calheta with three vehicles and three others from the Voluntary Firefighters of Ribeira Brava and Ponta do Sol with two ambulances were today involved in the operation of rescue to the victims of the serious accident in the tunnel that connects the Madalena do Mar to Arco da Calheta. The tunnel remains closed to traffic.

A woman was seriously injured in the accident between two cars this Saturday afternoon in a tunnel in Calheta, AgoraMadeira said. The woman was one of the victims imprisoned, the other was a man.

There were 18 firefighters at the scene.
