A big thank you for all those who sent me their old photos of Madeira, You all seemed to enjoy these and lots of nice comments and Emails.
Some of you might have missed this post and the comments https://www.madeiraislandnews.com/2019/04/old-photos-madeira.html
I posted Karolina Ploj photos which she found in the house that she brought on the island. Within 20 minutes Laura from the US left the comment below recognising the family in the photos.
I have been following your blog for years, and it is with great joy that I opened this posting this morning because, these are pictures of my relatives!!! My father and his family are from Madeira, and the house that was purchased by Karolina Ploj on Rua de Levada was owned by my grandfather and then my aunt and uncle, all seen in these photos. I would love to have them if Karolina is willing to pass them on. Can you connect me with her? I travel to Madeira annually and would love to connect with you and Karolina. I love this house and have many, many fond memories of time spend there from age 15- 50+.
What an amazingly small world we live in and how wonderful that technology can connect us to each other.
I look forward to hearing back from you.

The two are now in touch, and Karolina has the photos to give Laura when she next visits the Island.
Laura later added this comment.
This has absolutely been the highlight of my day! These photos date back to the 50’s and early 60’s. That is my grandfather, Antonio Fernandes, proudly showing off his banana harvest. The others are of my aunt, Bernadette Fernandes Brazao and her husband, Manual Brazao. She was the matriarch of our family and helped all her her sibling and parents immigrate to the United States.
I am more eager than ever to return to Madeira and find my new found friends. I do hope to hear from Karolina soon.
Again, thank you, Toby for your wonderful news site and in advance thank you for connecting me with Karolina.
Best wishes Laura
Very nice result, and look forward to you visiting the Island Laura.
