The ‘Tropical Expo – 4th Exhibition of Fruits and Subtropical Flavors’ will take place from 25th to 28th this month, at Quay 8, on the People’s Square, (Praça do Povo)
This event, organized by the Casa do Povo of Santa Maria Maior, was presented yesterday, at the end of the afternoon, in a ceremony that included the delivery of baskets to needy families and was attended by the Vice-President of the Regional Government.
Pedro Calado spoke of the importance of this gesture of solidarity that happens at Easter and Christmas and which, according to the official, is one of the main reasons for being the Casa do Povo, founded four years ago and is equivalent to the Private Institute of Social Solidarity IPSS).
The vice president praised the work carried out by the team led by Eduardo Rodrigues, thanking them for the effort and dedication to the community they serve, which he says is a civic lesson to be added to the many activities developed at Casa do Povo, such as training in languages, music, gymnastics, among others.
He asked those present to bear other needs felt in the area of intervention of the Cas do Povo of Santa Maria Maior, so that, with the right people, they could find solutions.
Concerning the ‘Tropical Expo’, Pedro Calado emphasized the growing importance of subtropical fruits for the regional economy and the work of producers and emphasized in the specific case (the event) cooperation between secretary, namely Agriculture and Fisheries and Inclusion and Issues Social.
In addition to the exhibition of fruit products and various exhibitors, the initiative includes musical concerts, with the presence of Miro Freitas, Bryon Wilson, Álvaro Florence, AOAKASO, Roni de Melo and Ruben Aguiar.
