31 dogs and a cat were rescued yesterday from a house on Rua 31 de Janeiro in miserable and life-threatening conditions.
The Association Ajuda a Alimentar Cães, said in social networks that “They knew that this situation was known to to the Camara Funchal for more than a year, without anyone having or wanting to do anything for the sake of those animals.”
In the rescue images, shared through Instagram’s ‘instastories’ tool, the president of the association, Mariana Nóbrega, reports that “both the Camara, PSP and GNR have been aware of this situation for some years.”
Still, the rescue came from members of the association who, upon entering the property, found the deplorable state of the three dozen dogs. They alerted the authorities, and already in the presence of the PSP and the fire-fighters, the AAAC “entered the room, and removed the canines, some of them babies, all presenting states of disease and advanced malnutrition,” a publication on the official Facebook page.
The Municipality of Funchal was represented in the action of rescue, and the animals were distributed by the Official Collection Center of Vasco Gil and by the Association Ajuda a Alimentar Cães. The animals in your care are already receiving treatment at the Veterinary Hospital of Madeira.
