Zone of difficult access prevents fire fighting in Fajã da Ovelha.
Two vehicles and six men remain on the ground in Fajã da Ovelha, at this moment only in fire surveillance that started yesterday at around 2:30 pm. and is still active and consuming weeds in an area that is difficult to reach. The fire at this moment does not endanger dwellings, but given the area where it evolved, little can be done by the Calheta Volunteer Firefighters rather than closely monitor the situation.
Yesterday 31 operational members and 13 vehicles were mobilized and the fire was fought by the Volunteer Firefighters of Calheta and Volunteer Firefighters Madeirenses, having in the place also present members of the Police Corps Forest. The local corporation had been on the ground all night.
