The risk of fire in Madeira will increase in the coming days, arriving on Friday, to the category of “very high”.
This Wednesday, only Porto Santo has a high risk of fire, while the rest of Madeira has a “moderate” risk.
According to the forecasts of the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA) will be so today and tomorrow.
However, it is on Friday that the risk of fire will worsen, with several counties with “high” and even “very high” fire risk, as is the case of Funchal.
With “high” risk Porto Santo will continue, but also Câmara de Lobos and Santa Cruz, as of Friday, as illustrated in the photograph taken from the IPMA website.
It should be noted that the meteorological index of fire hazard makes it possible to estimate the fire hazard from the state of the various fuels present in the forest soil, which is determined indirectly through observations of meteorological elements, taking into account temperature, relative humidity, the intensity of the wind and the precipitation accumulated in the last 24 hours.
