The strong wind that this afternoon hit the eastern end of Madeira, as predicted by the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and Atmosphere, in the last hours came to ‘blow’ above the operational limits along the runway of Madeira International Airport – Cristiano Ronaldo, with blizzard record of up to 72 km / h and wind with an average speed of 36 km / h. The wind started causing problems after 4pm, and has diverted at least 5 flights.

Wind that has since subsided, allowing after 19 hours the landing of the TAP flight from Lisbon, after some time of waiting ‘in circles’. Before, for practically three hours, the runway of Santa Cruz was conditioned to the landings, taking five airplanes to be diverted to the Airport of Porto Santo. The divergent flights come from Dusseldorf, Paris, Nantes, London and Tenerife.
