The Funchal City Council has just appealed to all residents to pay special attention to the high temperatures that are expected for the next days in the County. The whole island will be on yellow alert till Wednesday for expected high temperatures.
Thus, the Municipality requests that the self-protection measures advised by the Municipal Civil Protection be followed in the hot weather and the risk of fire. Considering that a safe city depends on everyone, the Council reminds that it is important to avoid the creation of bonfires for recreation or leisure or for cooking food. It also says that the use of firing and combustion equipment for lighting or cooking purposes should be avoided. The Municipality warns of the need to avoid smoking or making fire of any kind in the forest spaces and surrounding roads.
