The Areeiro is once again the hottest area of the Madeira Archipelago, with air temperatures at the last minute approaching 30 degrees.
Just like yesterday, this Saturday the highest peak temperature will once again be felt in the mountainous region of Madeira, which at 2 pm was 29.8ºC at Pico do Areeiro.
Just below, in Chão do Areeiro, were 29.4ºC. Also of note is the (very) low relative humidity that hovers above 1500 meters altitude. In the last hour the humidity rate was around 30%.
In the ranking of the maximum temperatures recorded until 2 pm, followed by Bica da Cana (28.6ºC), Funchal / Observatory (28.2ºC) and Santa Cruz / Airport (28.0ºC).
Santana, with a mild 23.0ºC, recorded until the last hour the lowest maximum temperature of this Saturday.
It is recalled that the Madeira Archipelago is, from yesterday morning and until – for now – until 21 hours tomorrow, in yellow warning for the warm weather that returns to warm this August.
Remember that this Friday, the 23rd, was a very hot and dry day on the top of the island of Madeira. The Pico do Areeiro weather station recorded the highest maximum temperature of the entire Madeira Archipelago and the lowest relative humidity.
Fortunately the wind blew weakly, not contributing to the mixture being more ‘explosive’ given the hot, dry weather on the crest of Madeira.
The maximum temperature values closest to the one recorded at the top of Areeiro were 2ºC below and were felt by the sea in Funchal. IPMA stations at the Observatory (Lazareto) and Lido marked 27.7ºC. Half a dozen other stations in different geographical areas of Madeira have reached 27ºC this Friday – Bica da Cana (27.6ºC), São Vicente (27.5ºC), Ponta do Pargo (27.4ºC), Santa Cruz / Airport (27.1ºC), Chão do Areeiro and Ponta do Sol / Lugar de Baixo (27.0ºC) – the first of three yellow warning days due to the persistence of high values of the maximum temperature.
