It was an authentic sea of people who flocked to the Campo da Barca Garden, the starting point of the fourth edition of the Funchal pilgrimage to Machico.

In this edition, there is a huge turnout, with 227 people registered, and others will join the pilgrimage along the way, as explained Paula Garcia, responsible for organising the event. The route will be made by the Regional Road to Machico, with five stops throughout the day, so that the faithful can rest and regain strength.

Paula Garcia had set the goal of reaching the 200 subscribers, and was very happy and pleased that this number had been exceeded.

Also present was D. Nuno Brás, who invoked God’s blessing and wished all pilgrims “a good way.”

The Bishop of Funchal considered that “the pilgrimage is always important because it gives us the perception of what our life is”.

The faithful are expected to arrive in Machico in the late afternoon, around 7 pm, after a strenuous 26-kilometer course.
