The existing walkway in Praia Formosa, Funchal, will be removed from the site, given the predictions of strong swell, motivated by the passing of Hurricane Lorenzo. Removal work begins today.
In a publication from Frente Mar on social networks, the municipal company reports that, for safety reasons, it has chosen to remove the walkway from the site.
It should be recalled that, according to the IPMA, this hurricane is expected to pass west of Flores island on Wednesday, maintaining the forecast that it will affect the entire Azores archipelago. The hurricane is expected to pass the Azores archipelago in category 1 of the Saffir-Simpson scale. This scale measures the intensity of hurricanes between levels 1 and 5, with 5 being the most intense level.
In Madeira the effects of Lorenzo will only be felt in the sea, with strong sea waves, on Thursday and Friday.
