The improved weather conditions at Madeira Airport in the afternoon allowed the landing of five airplanes after wind and poor visibility caused 14 calls to be canceled, an airport source said.
According to the same source, Binter’s flight from Porto Santo and Jet2 were the first flights to arrive in Madeira, as has Transavia’s planes from Paris and BA from Gatwick (London), which had diverged to the so-called Golden Island [Porto Santo].
Also landed an aircraft from Iberia that came from Madrid and another from Sata originating in Ponta Delgada (Azores).
In total 14 flights were canceled between arrivals and departures between 07:55 and 09:20, three from TAP, two from easyjet, two from TuiFly.
The first plane to make the runway at Madeira-Cristiano Ronaldo International Airport was JET2.COM from Stansted (London) at around 12noon.
