Tomorrow, October 2, at 5 pm, the opening ceremony of the Hotel Turim Santa Maria (ex Santa Maria) will be held, in an investment by the Portuguese hotel group Turim Hotels. The President of the Regional Government, Miguel Albuquerque will be present at the initiative.
The Turim Hotels Group, by brothers Ricardo, Pedro and Rita Martins, was founded in 1992 and has 21 hotels in Lisbon, Porto, Algarve, Azeitão, Coimbra, Madeira and Sintra. It has designed hotels for the Azores and for Lisbon.
The Turin Hotel Santa Maria will be the group’s first investment in Madeira, costing around 10 million euros.
It is recalled that in July 2017, a letter from the Regional Directorate for Tourism issued a favorable opinion on its implementation, integrating it into 4-star hotels with 90 rooms / 180 beds.
By the way, remember that the old Santa Maria opened in the year 1964 and closed in the year 2006. When it closed it was a 3 star hotel. It had 83 rooms (71 double rooms and 12 single rooms) and 154 beds.
