PTP today went public, expressing “its indignation at the 415 million euros of accumulated debt of the Madeira Electricity Company (EEM)”.
In the initiative promoted, this Friday (November 8), at Avenida do Mar, Quintino Costa pointed out “failed investments” as the reason for the large liabilities presented by the public company and gave as an example the case of Banif.
“Families and businesses are anxious to pay the electricity bill and then the Company will throw that money overboard instead of investing in the common good. It’s being mismanaged, ”says Quintino Costa.
He also recalls that “EEM has a monopoly on electricity and that the Madeirans do not have the choice as in the continent”.
“There is a waste of public money and none of the parties in the Government or the Assembly talk about it. There are even people who were employees of EEM, enjoying a reduction in the light tariff when they are no longer in office, ”says the PTP leader.
