The Municipality of Câmara de Lobos will have, from today, a new tourism unit, Quinta da Saraiva, which has a historical record at least since the early nineteenth century.
This is a new project for rural tourism with over 2,500m2 of planted vines and banana trees and 13 rooms decorated “individually and uniquely with unparalleled and completely unobstructed views” of the Câmara de Lobos Valley.
This new hotel unit was supported under PRODERAM in the amount of € 169,364.30, a regional public support of € 29,887.82, for a total of € 199,252.12.
The same note states that the purpose of Quinta da Saraiva is to offer Madeira and its guests “an alternative of high quality rural tourism and modern comforts, respecting the traditional essence of Câmara de Lobos culture and identity”.
It also explains that it was the last generation descendants born on the farm, already emigrants, who developed the rural tourism project – agrotourism together with an experienced and professional Madeiran team. Daniel Gonçalves Rodrigues, hotel promoter, was born in Caracas, Venezuela, to a completely Madeiran family. He studied his studies in political economy at Georgetown University in Washington, DC, and has developed his career as an entrepreneur and founder of several companies, including Quinta da Saraiva.
