This weekend, in São Martinho, is the traditional Christmas Market, an initiative carried out every year by the Parish Council and which is reserved in the calendar of Christmas activities.
This Christmas Market is used by a large number of parish marketers who thus take advantage of the moment to expose to visitors the most varied articles of typical sweets and Christmas decoration.
An event that always arouses the curiosity of those who pass by and takes the opportunity to make some of the usual shopping, including homemade liqueurs, breads and honey cakes among other traditional sweets, crafts, antiques and the most diverse collecting items.
The São Martinho Christmas Market takes place this Saturday and Sunday, from 8:00 am until 5:00 pm, in the Parish Council Square.
Other initiatives are taking the atmosphere of the party a little everywhere. Thus, in order to also integrate the younger ones in the Christmas events, the Parish Council organized a competition of Christmas drawings among the students of the schools of São Martinho. The best classifieds will be chosen to appear on Christmas postcards that will be later distributed by the Parish Council.
With the arrival of the traditional Masses of Childbirth, the Parish Council is once again associated with these moments of religious importance for the Madeiran Christmas. day 20 in Nazareth and day 21 in the Chapel of Ajuda.
In the meantime, until December 10th, the registration period for the Nativity Scene Contest is underway, an initiative that has been very popular.
In preparation is the Luso-Venezuelan Christmas Party. An event organized in São Martinho by Venecom and including a Christmas Bazaar, to be held on December 14th and 15th.
