The boards at the Airport are showing Departures for the next few days.

Not sure how long British Airways will keep running, and they must me coming almost empty.

  1. Maybe BA haven’t noticed all the empty seats?

    I read that just under 500 tourists left. If you spread passengers out 5 flights should clear them out.

  2. Someone told me BA are charging around £680 each seat so as long as theyve got nearly full flights that ammount will cover their empty outward route for as long as needed or permitted.

  3. We returned home yesterday with BA. I’d say the flight was around two third full, which meant we had nobody in front, behind and to the side of us, whilst Club class was full. When we checked in on line and tried to change our seats, the flight appeared full, but we were reallocated when we got to the airport. We paid an additional £300 each, which included a £60 booking fee, per seat.
    I’m relieved to be home, the sun is shining but it’s cold. We had a wonderful time in Madeira and hope to return in better times.

    PS the Aerobus was on time, only 4 of us on it.

We booked a flight back to london for wednesday, for the 3 of us it was around €400 with seats and checked in luggage, thursday flight is slightly cheaper after that there are no flight available at all. Our first flight back was on the 23rd with easy jet,got cancelled then moved ti the 1st of april but we didnt want to risk staying here even though we are with family and it’s safer here then in london , we have everything in london so decided to go back. Stay safe guys hope no more positive cases here in madeira and they will shut the airports down so after a few weeks you will be able to go back to normal life. Have a poncha on me when this all ends! Haha

  5. We were also on the BA flight back to Gatwick yesterday after having our Jet2 flight for today 23rd was cancelled . We were amazed that BA had obviously tried to safely distance us as previously stated, every other row was empty with the odd exception when there was a single passenger, and yes, we also noticed that business class was full! So pleased to eventually be home and yes, it was a beautiful spring day. Just wish that the idiots treating it like a holiday and not keeping a safe distance from other people would follow the example of the folks in Madeira who are certainly observing strict rules regarding isolation. It was so sad leaving as we love the island and hope to return again as soon as all of this is over. Good wishes to all the folks on Madeira who face a very uncertain future when there are no tourists about. You have looked after us so well even in the face of such adversity. It will not be forgotten. Thank you all.
