Members of the Judiciary Police are currently at the Funchal marina, following the seizure made today of a “significant amount of cocaine”, on a sailboat that was supposedly transporting a narcotic product between South America and Europe.
In carrying out the search, two men, 58 and 53 years old, of foreign nationality, were also arrested for the practice of a crime of drug trafficking.
The detainees will be present to the competent Judicial Authorities, for first interrogation and will remain in custody.
The investigation was supported by the Maritime Analysis and Operations Center – Narcotics (MAOC-N), based in Lisbon and the Italian authorities.
Today, at 5 pm, in the Criminal Investigation Department of Madeira, the Judiciary Police will provide additional clarifications on this operation, with the media being able to film or photograph the seized drug.
