APOLO RESTAURANT AT RISK OF INSOLVENCY

Madeira’s oldest restaurant, opened in early December 1945, is at risk of insolvency.

With unpaid wages, the 17 Apolo workers face the possibility of losing their jobs.

According to JM, there is a proposal to acquire the historic space, but it was considered “insufficient” by the current owners who are analyzing the insolvency path.

It’s going to be very sad to see so many places go the same way. Madeira was almost at its peak, with so many closed places reopened over the last year or so, and old buildings being renovated, into modern spaces.
