New street in the port of Funchal will be called Virgílio Teixeira and will be opened tomorrow

The President of the Regional Government,
Miguel Albuquerque, will visit tomorrow,
Thursday, November 19, at 12 :30 pm, the new street “Connection Road between Praia CR7 and Lota do Funchal” – Rua Virgílio Teixeira, on the port of Funchal.

The new road, with a length of 268 meters,
improves road accessibility within the Port of Funchal, namely between the North Pier and the South Pier, and specifically at Pier 6 (the northern terminal of the Port of Funchal).

It also facilitates accessibility to the Roll on Roll off ramp, allowing the relocation of
dedicated traffic to this “internal” road to the port, freeing both the roundabout and its access when waiting for a ferry.

Also mention, with regard to pedestrian
circulation, the creation of sidewalks and
circulation corridors with a smooth sealed flooring .

The type of floor of the pedestrian circulation circuit takes into account a smooth and rolling base, guaranteeing conditions for wheelchairs, prams and for the use of wheeled hand luggage, avoiding irregularities, rolling noises and other unwanted effects.

The work represents an investment in the
order of 198,333.00 euros.
