ORANGE WARNING FOR MARITIME UNREST FROM SUNDAY AFTERNOON

According to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere, waves of up to 12 meters are planned on Sunday afternoon and Monday morning.

The north coast of Madeira and Porto Santo will be under orange warning for maritime unrest on Sunday, the Portuguese Institute for the Sea and Atmosphere (IPMA) announced this Friday, warning of the possibility of waves up to 12 meters. The forecast reveals that the northwest waves will be 5 to 7 meters, reaching a maximum height of 10 to 12 meters.

For now, the yellow warning came into force this Friday, at 7 pm, and runs until 6 pm on the 30th (Monday), with waves from the northwest with 4 to 5 meters. However, between 3 pm on Sunday and 9 am on Monday, the 30th, the warning changes to Orange.

As for the weather, the IPMA points to periods of very cloudy skies, with periods of rain until the end of the morning, changing to light showers. The wind will blow moderate (20 to 35 km / h) from the northwest, temporarily from the west until mid-morning, becoming moderate to strong (25 to 40 km / h) from the afternoon. In the highlands, the wind will blow moderate to strong (25 to 40 km / h) from the northwest, increasing to strong (40 to 50 km / h) from the afternoon, with gusts up to 85 km / h.
