Madeira will inoculate 80 health professionals at the start of the vaccination campaign

Pedro Ramos said that this Thursday, five people will be vaccinated simultaneously, because there are precisely “five ‘boxes’ working with five professionals in the field of nursing” in charge of the task of inoculating those who dealt with the risk of this virus, since the beginning of the pandemic.

At the start of the vaccination campaign against covid-19, scheduled for this Thursday, at noon, Madeira expects to inoculate about 80 health professionals, but at a later stage SESARAM estimates to be able to vaccinate, per day, around 200 people who are at the forefront of fighting the pandemic.

In all, the Region expects to administer the first dose of the vaccine to 4,875 health and household professionals, followed by the second dose, which will be administered within 21 days.

The announcement was made by the regional secretary of Health, Pedro Ramos, who on arrival of the first 9,750 doses of Pfizer vaccine at Hospital Dr. Nélio Mendonça rejoiced in the “gift of the end of the year”.

“To avoid spreading the virus in Madeira, we have one more tool, one more measure that will help us, in addition to the non-pharmaceutical measures that have been used so far. So it is important for us. It is a gift at the end of the year for a population that has been resistant. For us it is a double satisfaction to have the vaccines already and to be able to start the vaccination campaign even today “, stressed the government official.
