Madeira registers 95 new positive cases of Covid-19

Today there are 95 new positive cases to report, so Madeira now counts 2861 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the regional territory. These are 6 imported cases (2 from the Lisbon and Tagus Valley Region, 2 from the United Kingdom, 1 from Spain and 1 from the Czech Republic) and 89 cases of local transmission, most of them already associated with contacts or contexts of positive cases . Epidemiological investigations of the cases are still ongoing.

Regarding the new positive cases today, it should be noted that 1 corresponds to a professional in the education sector identified within the scope of the ongoing screening in education and teaching establishments in the municipality of Santa Cruz.

According to the bulletin of the Regional Health Directorate, there are 45 more recovered cases to report. The region now counts 1557 cases recovered from COVID-19. To date, there have been a total of 20 deaths associated with COVID-19.

Regarding the isolation of active cases, 50 people are isolated in a dedicated hotel unit, 1173 in their own accommodation and 61 people are currently hospitalized (54 in Multipurpose Units and 7 in the Intensive Care Unit dedicated to COVID-19).

In total, there are 287 new situations that are being studied by the health authorities, all related to contacts with positive cases, situations reported to the SRS24 line or by SESARAM. Epidemiological investigations are ongoing.

Regarding the active surveillance of positive case contacts, 2,244 people are being monitored by the health authorities of the various municipalities of Madeira and Porto Santo.

In total, the samples processed in the Clinical Pathology laboratory of SESARAM, EPERAM for PCR testing amount to 248734.
