MADEIRA UNDER YELLOW WARNING UNTIL SUNDAY – FERRY CANCELLED TODAY

The Madeira archipelago will be starting today with yellow warning due to the forecast of rain, sometimes heavy and accompanied by thunder, and wind, according to the Portuguese Institute of the Sea and the Atmosphere (IPMA).

According to the IPMA, the archipelago will be under yellow warning because of the rain between 9 am today and 9 pm on Sunday.

The archipelago will also be under yellow warning between 09:00 and 18:00 today due to the forecast of strong northeast wind, with gusts up to 95 kilometers per hour (km / h).

The yellow warning is issued by the IPMA whenever there is a risk for certain activities depending on the weather situation.

The IPMA forecasts today in the archipelago generally cloudy skies, showers from early in the morning, which can sometimes be strong and accompanied by thunderstorms, and a small drop in maximum temperature.

The forecast also points to a moderate to strong northeast wind, with gusts up to 75 km / h, blowing hard in the highlands, with gusts up to 95 km / h, weakening from the end of the afternoon.

In Funchal, temperatures will fluctuate between 18 and 24 degrees Celsius and in Porto Santo between 16 and 21 degrees.

The Porto Santo Line have also cancelled today’s crossing thus evening which normally leaves Funchal at 7pm, customers can change their booking to Saturday or get a refund for the trip. Really not sure how this affects the PCR test which those travelling would have had, or if they would require a new test if changing tickets.
