PORTUGAL TO RESUME USE OF ASTRAZENECA VACCINE

Some great news.

Portuguese health authorities today decided to resume the administration of AstraZeneca vaccines against covid-19, three days after the announcement of a temporary suspension due to reports in several countries of cases of blood clots in vaccinated people. Vaccines will resume from Monday 22nd March.

The decision was announced by the National Authority for Medicines and Health Products (Infarmed), the Directorate-General for Health (DGS) and the task force that coordinates the vaccination program, following the announcement by the European Medicines Agency (EMA ) that the AstraZeneca vaccine “is safe and effective” and that it is not associated with cases of blood clots that have led to the suspension of its use in more than a dozen European countries.
