Red List, Flights Cancelled

So at the moment Portugal still remains on the UK red list, nothing has been said about its removal at the monent.

A reader has also let me know that their easyjet flight on the 20th May from Bristol has been cancelled. This just might be due to the fact they are cutting flights back, so maybe instead of two a week only one a week, but they do not let you know this, so it might be worth checking to see if you can book a flight that same week.

Has anyone else had flights cancelled in May? More specifically after the 17th, which at the moment is the date for the travel ban to end.

  1. We are due over in June and BA have just told us that our flight will now leave from Heathrow and not Gatwick

    1. They’ve been from LHR for sometime now. We’ve booked in October and it says from LGW but we’ll have to wait and see.

    2. Yes I was looking for flights to the UK. I want to see my Nan. She has broken her hip. Up till end of summer will be to expensive, and I noticed the flights were from Heathrow still. I looked at BA in October and that is more affordable, and it’s saying Gatwick at the moment, but either is fine for me.

  2. I’ve just looked on easyJet website and the earliest you can fly to Madeira from Bristol is 27 th May 2021 .

  3. I thought I’d seen a couple if days ago that Portugal was to be removed from Red list. Fingers crossed. Can’t wait to cone back xx

  6. Our EasyJet flight from Funchal to Gatwick on 26th May was cancelled today (the flight out on 30th April was cancelled last week)

  7. I have just had my 19th May, Cristiano Ronaldo Airport to Gatwick flight cancelled. Since December 2020 this is my 10th cancelled flight. Stay safe

  8. Our BA flight On 22 May not cancelled but noticed Portugal today extended their ban on UK flights until at least 31 March
    Probably in retaliation to this dishonest UK government

  12. Tobi, the transport minister and the travel taskforce doesn’t meet until 12th April when they will review latest covid 19 situation. May travel dates are only provisional another date is 22nd June when maybe international flights resume. Everything depends on the R rate and vaccination programmes.

  13. Likewise re 26 May on EasyJet. Daily flights now start from 28 May except nothing on 30 May

  14. Yes our flight Easyjet Funchal to Gatwick has been cancelled for 19th May – can book for the 21st!!

  15. PORTUGAL INCLUDING MADEIRA AND THE AZORES WILL BE REMOVED FROM THE RED LIST AT 04.00 FRI 19TH MAR. CHECK ONLINE AT GOV.UK, THEN LOOK AT UPDATED RED LIST.
    ONCE THESE CHANGES ARE MADE I THINK YOU WILL FIND AIRLINES WILL START FLYING HERE SOONER RATHER THAN LATER.

  16. Hi ,friends were due out on the 17th may and easy jet c/x from Manchester. They rebooked for the 21 st may and later was c/x too .not looking good for winter nov to mar .hope this helps .ciaran

  18. My sisters flights with easyjet from Manchester on May 24th & return 31st have been cancelled today

  19. Our flight from gatwick 18 may was changed to 19 may from heathrow now it had bèen changed to 17 may heathrow also the return flight on 28 may to Gatwick now 29 may to heathrow I hope we get there sometime

  21. UK government website confirms that Portugal has been removed from the ‘red list’. However, today I received an email from EasyJet cancelling my flight to Lisbon on 26 May.

    1. I recon the flight companies know something. Either they extending the non essential travel, or the quarantine when returning to the UK stays in place… ???

  23. Hi Tobi, can you please do me a favour, whilst all the Brits stranded on Madeira scramble for flights home, they need to fill in their UK CENSUS form by 21st March, they don’t have much time and can be fined up to £1,000 if they don’t.
    They need the 16 digit number that would have been sent to their home address.

  24. We have our flights cancelled by jet 2 for 7th June, not sure when we can rebook again, so disappointing not only for us but for Madeira ?
